Is Obama Running for a Third Term?

The next Presidential election will be on November 5, 2024. This is the most important election of your lifetime, perhaps, of any lifetime. As of this writing, we are about to enter the campaign season as titans like Joe Biden, Chris Christie, Donald Trump, and Ron DeSantis, do battle to be king of the United States. However, there may be another popular figure throwing their hat into the race.

Scuzz insiders have heard numerous reports from our DC affiliates regarding discussions within the Democratic Party to have THE Barack Obama run for a third term as President of the United States. According to these reports, the Democrat Party is concerned Biden might not be up to snuff to run the country any longer. Hence, the O-Dog needs to run ruff-shot. Obama was a very popular president back when I was a kid, so seeing him make a comeback MCU-style would be quite the epic nostalgia bomb.

Obama seemed receptive to the idea of running for a third term, which hasn’t been done since Franklin D. Roosevelt rolled into the oval office. Back in 2016, Obamna said he was absolutely certain he would have won against Trump had he been given a go. Apparently, Obama has been seething these past few years and is gearing up to give Trump the old one-two. When asked by Scuzz reporters about the prospect of running again, Obama might have said something like, “This country needs me. I can hear their, uh, wails into the night. It sickens me. I, uh, I have to run again. Not for my sake, not for the county’s sake, but for the world’s sake.” Inspiring.

However, Obama may find that this is easier said than done. There’s a little thing called “the United States Constitution” which presents a roadblock for the exceptional ex-president. According to the 22nd Amendment, no president can run for more than 2 terms as President. This is easy to remember, because there are 2 2s in 22, so like you can remember this is the amendment about the president only having 2 terms. Anyway, this might seem like an open and shut case, but there might be a way for Obama to work himself back in the oval office.

One suggestion might be a favorable United States Supreme Court ruling. According to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court is the sole branch responsible for correctly interpreting a final decision regarding the United States Constitution per Marbury v. Madison (1803). Thus, the Court can simply decide that the words you are reading right before your eyes don’t literally mean what they actually mean. So, if the Court decided that the phrase, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice…” actually means that a person CAN be elected to president more than twice, then Obama can find himself back at the helm! Frickin sweet! This is unlikely because the Court has conservative justices, but never say never!

Obama could also simply ignore the Amendment. If enough people got together and decided Obama should rule the country, then our collective democratic energy can be funneled into making it a reality. Imagine this: Obama announces he’s running. Everyone is ecstatic. All the cool people are calling for Obama to be the president. Dorks everywhere start telling Obama he is not allowed to run because of the 22nd Amendment. Obama calls these legal scholars a bunch of nerds and he can do what he wants. Now what? These legal scholars would have no comeback from that. What is a piece of paper and old people in robes against pure, sexy democratic electricity? However, coups are Trump’s thing, not Obama’s. But, perhaps to save democracy, Obama may have to destroy it for a little bit until things get better.

What strategy Obama might take if he decides to run for office again is unclear. But we here at Scuzz fully endorse him if and when he does decide to run!
