This may shock some readers
They call it a bakers dozen because the baker adds an additional pastry as an additional pastry on top of the dozen order.
The idea started in 1815 when bakers decided to add an extra pastry to surprise the person who ordered the original twelve count order.
This has caused plenty ‘o confusion as some people who “order a bakers dozen” are sometimes shocked and even horrored at the thought of there being an additional pastry.
Imagine thinking they’re are only 12 muffins in a box and come to find out there is an additional muffin?
If Sal, Sabrina and Suzy each eat 3 muffins that would typically leave 3 for the home owner who in this case can be Davheed.
Imagine the look on Dahveed’s face, day of the muffin scenario, when he finds out they’re going to have four muffins in the fridge.
It may be too much for him, and he may even snap!
Of course this is a one in a million scnario, and even though the odds are large it can still happen.
If you still didn’t understand from reading this that a bakers dozen is thirteen, then here it is again.
A bakers dozen is NOT twelve
It is thirteen.
How many muffins have you aten?
